MeetGeek gives you full control over your data. Whether you want to remove local recordings from your mobile device or permanently delete your entire account and everything tied to it, this guide walks you through both — plus what to do if you were recorded but don't own the account.
In this guide
What if I'm not the account owner?
If you were recorded in a meeting but don't own the MeetGeek account that created the recording, MeetGeek can't delete or edit that recording for you. The recording belongs to the account owner who created it. Under MeetGeek's Terms of Service, that account owner is the Data Controller and is solely responsible for the content, while MeetGeek acts only as the Data Processor on their behalf.
To request deletion, contact the meeting host or organizer — the person or organization who recorded the meeting and owns the account. They can delete the recording directly from their MeetGeek dashboard. If you're not sure who that is, check the calendar invite or the email the recording or notes were shared from.
MeetGeek does not access, modify, or delete a customer's recordings except on the instruction of the account owner who created them.
Deleting data from the mobile app
Uninstalling the MeetGeek mobile app removes all locally stored recording data from your device (cached files, offline recordings not yet uploaded, and so on).
However, uninstalling the app does not delete your MeetGeek account or any data stored on our servers. Your meetings, transcripts, summaries, and highlights remain accessible through the web app at app.meetgeek.ai.
To uninstall the app:
Android
Go to Settings → Apps → MeetGeek.
Tap Uninstall.
iOS
Long-press the MeetGeek app icon.
Tap Remove App → Delete App.
Note: If you have offline recordings that haven't uploaded yet, uninstalling permanently removes those local files. Make sure all recordings are uploaded and processed before you uninstall.
Deleting your account and all data (web)
To permanently delete your MeetGeek account and all associated data — meetings, transcripts, recordings, summaries, and highlights — use the MeetGeek web app. Account deletion can't be done from the mobile app.
Before you begin
If you have an active paid subscription (Pro, Business, or Enterprise), cancel it first — you can't deactivate the account while a subscription is active. To cancel:
Go to app.meetgeek.ai and sign in.
Go to Settings → Billing.
Cancel your active subscription.
Wait for the cancellation to take effect.
Steps to delete your account
Go to app.meetgeek.ai and sign in.
Open the main menu and click the Settings dropdown.
Go to Account.
Click Deactivate Account.
You'll be asked whether you also want to erase all data. Select this if you want every meeting, recording, transcript, and highlight permanently deleted.
Confirm your decision.
Recovery period
After you deactivate your account, there's a 7-day recovery window. If you change your mind within that period, contact [email protected] or the chat messenger to request account recovery. After 7 days, the deletion is permanent and can't be reversed.
Summary
Action | What gets deleted | How |
Uninstall mobile app | Local recordings and cached data only | Device settings |
Deactivate account (without data erasure) | Account access is removed | Web app: Settings → Account → Deactivate |
Deactivate account (with data erasure) | All data: meetings, transcripts, recordings, highlights | Web app: Settings → Account → Deactivate + erase data |
