Analyze Zoom cloud recordings with MeetGeek

Two ways to get MeetGeek transcripts, summaries, and insights from Zoom — auto-record with the Notetaker, or send existing Zoom cloud recordings to MeetGeek via Zapier.

Written by Dan Huru

There are two ways to get MeetGeek's transcript, summary, and insights from a Zoom call: let the Notetaker join and record automatically, or send your existing Zoom cloud recordings to MeetGeek through Zapier — no Notetaker in the call. This guide covers both.

In this guide:

Record automatically with the Notetaker

The simplest way to make sure your Zoom meetings are recorded is to enable auto-join in your settings.

When enabled, the MeetGeek Notetaker joins your Zoom calls as a participant at the scheduled start time. After the meeting you get the recording (video or audio), transcript, AI summary, and performance insights. For the full picture on how the Notetaker handles Zoom, see Getting Started with Zoom.

Analyze existing cloud recordings via Zapier

Want an accurate transcript, notes, and insights without the Notetaker joining your meeting? Use our Zapier integration to send your Zoom cloud recordings to MeetGeek automatically. Set it up in minutes with the ready-to-use Zap template.

Update your Zoom recording settings

MeetGeek can only access Zoom recordings that aren't password-protected. Before setting up your Zap:

  1. Log in to your Zoom account on the Zoom website.

  2. Click Settings in the left menu.

  3. Under the Recording tab, make sure:

    • Require users to authenticate before viewing cloud recordings is off.

    • Require password to access shared cloud recordings is off.

    • Allow cloud recording sharing is on (MeetGeek can access cloud recordings only, not local recordings).

Set up the Zap

  1. Log in to Zapier and click Try this template.

  2. Connect your Zoom account.

  3. At the Configure step, choose a trigger — All new Cloud Recordings on my account or Only Cloud Recordings created by me — and click Continue.

  4. Connect your MeetGeek account to Zapier. You'll see this popup when connecting the apps.

  5. When prompted, go to MeetGeek → Integrations → Zapier. Copy your personal API key and paste it into the corresponding field in Zapier.

  6. Click Yes, Continue to MeetGeek.ai to complete the connection.

  7. If prompted again, enter your API key at the Configure step. The Template and Language fields are optional — you can adjust them later in MeetGeek after the recording is uploaded.

  8. Click Continue to complete the setup, then publish your Zap.

Now, whenever you record a Zoom meeting using Zoom's built-in recording, the Zap triggers automatically once the recording is uploaded to your cloud storage.

What you get

The uploaded file appears in MeetGeek within a few minutes.

Once processing is complete, you'll find it on the Past Meetings page. MeetGeek automatically names the uploaded file for easy navigation.

From there you can use MeetGeek's full feature set:

  • Review the meeting transcript (60+ languages supported).

  • Catch up with automatically generated highlights.

  • Send an AI-powered summary to others.

  • Gain meeting performance insights.

Important: This integration uses the MeetGeek API. Check the API limits to make sure your Zap works as expected.
